Richard A. Shingler, 75, of Mount Joy, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Penn State Hershey Medical Center. Born in Hollidaysburg, he was the son of the late Arthur Paul Shingler and Thelma Louise (Downing) Shingler. Richard was the husband of Carole Heckman Shingler with whom he celebrated 16 years of marriage this past November 26th.
Richard retired from Appleton Paper as a plant supervisor. He was a lifelong member and enjoyed trips to Blair County Rod and Gun. He loved the outdoors and was an avid fly fisherman. Richard attended Community Bible Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Carole, are two sons, Daniel Shingler, husband of Melissa of Carlisle and Joseph Shingler, husband of Tarra of Murrysville. Also surviving is a step-son, Chad Schell, husband of Jamie of Mount Joy; five grandchildren; and a sister, Paula Wapner of Cadbury, NJ.
Unfortunately, due to health concerns with the coronavirus (COVID-19) the family will be postponing Richard’s celebration of life service and will make an announcement at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation at www.ipffoundation.org.
