Harriet C. Paules

January 19, 1921 ~ August 3, 2020 (age 99)


Harriet C. Paules, 99, formerly of York, Pa, died peacefully on August 3, 2020, at the Pleasant View Community in Manheim PA where she was a resident s for the past 14 years.  She was the wife of the late Robert B. Paules with whom she shared 58 years of marriage.   She will be missed by her two children, Beverly, married to Theodore Maugel of Clearwater FL, and John H. II, husband of Patricia Paules of Lancaster.  Also, surviving are her grandchildren: Jeffrey married to Chase Maugel of Tampa FL, Debbie Maugel, married to Jamie Scott of Clearwater FL and Scott A. married to Paige Paules of Lancaster, and four great-grandchildren, Katie and Brian Maugel, Noah Paules and Erik Villafane.

Harriet was a graduate of the William Penn High School, York and worked at East Prospect State Bank.  Harriet was a member of Zion United Church of Christ in York. Harriet was known for her green thumb, infectious laugh, and commitment to her family. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, playing cards and helping others. Robert and Harriet traveled to Spain, Portugal, and Bermuda during their marriage, and she always looked forward to her annual trip to Florida to enjoy time with her daughter, son-in-law, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Born in York, she was the daughter of the late Franklin B. and Emma C. Young Dietz.  She was preceded in death by her grandson, Todd Maugel, brothers, Edward and Gerald Dietz and sisters: Frances Nickol, Mary Sechrist and Joyce Drawbaugh.

Harriet’s family would like to extend a sincere “Thank You” to all the staff that assisted Harriet throughout her different levels of care at Pleasant View Retirement Community. 

Services will be private and held at the convenience of her family.  Memorial contributions to the Benevolence Fund of Pleasant View Retirement Community, 544 Penryn Road, Manheim PA 17545, or Hospice and Palliative Care, 2101 Oregon Pike, Suite 301, Lancaster PA 17604 would be deeply appreciated.
