Obituary

On March 26, 2021 Geraldine “Gerry” Smeigh was called home by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with her family by her side at Moravian Manor in Lititz.

Gerry was born in Springfield Township, York County. She was the daughter of the late Harry K. and Ester I. (Krout) Keiser.

Gerry is survived by her husband, Jon of Elizabethtown. They would have celebrated 70 years of marriage on July 28, 2021. She is survived by her son, Todd Smeigh and daughter-in-law, Dawn (Splain) Smeigh of Elizabethtown, granddaughter, Rachel Smeigh of Mount Joy, a grandson, Nathan Smeigh of Elizabethtown, and a grandson, Kyle Spigelmeyer of Elizabethtown. She is survived by a sister, Portia (Keiser) Smith and husband, James Smith of Roseboro, North Carolina. She is also survived by several cousins, nieces, nephews and their children. Gerry was proceeded in death by a sister, Mary (Maxwell) Oberlander and a son, Lynn E. Smeigh

Born July 14, 1935, Gerry was a life-long resident of York until 2011 when she and Jon relocated to Elizabethtown. Gerry was a member of Salem United Church of Christ and a long-time member of the choir. Her music ministry touched so many throughout her life. Her voice was beautiful and when she sang the words from the hymns could be felt by those who listened.

Gerry was a clerk and also a model for Dentsply International in York for over 30 years. She was a wonderful homemaker and a good friend to so many. The things most important to her and closest to her heart were her family and friends. She enjoyed cooking, hosting holiday meals, spending time with her grandchildren, visiting friends from church and enjoying her grand-dog, Cassie.

A celebration of Gerry’s life will be held on Saturday, April 3rd, at the Sheetz Funeral Home, 16 East Main Street, Mount Joy, PA. Family and friends are invited to visit with the family between 10 and 11 AM, with the service beginning at 11 AM. Pastor Kevin Becker from Salem UCC will be the officiant.
