Chester R. "Chet" Jones

Chester R. “Chet” Jones, 66, of Mount Joy, passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2026. Born in Columbia, he was the son of the late Chester G. and Florence R. (Mimnall) Jones. Chet was the husband of Sandra “Sandi” (Gestewitz) Jones with whom he would have shared their 40th wedding anniversary this September 20th. Chet was a positive presence to everyone who knew him, always bringing laughter, joy, and encouragement wherever he went. He worked faithfully as a truck driver at Wenger Feeds for 23 years, where his hard work and dedication reflected the kind of man he was. He found peace and happiness by the river, fishing whenever he had the chance. He loved all styles of music, and could often be found drumming, jamming, and singing a happy song. He was an avid camper who cherished nights around a campfire, sharing stories with family and friends. He also loved spending quiet time reading history books and studying his Bible. Family was very important to Chet, but above all, he loved Jesus with all of his heart, and his faith was evident in the way he lived and loved others. Surviving in addition to his loving wife, Sandi, are two daughters, who remain to honor his memory. Samantha Simmons, wife of Kevin of Manheim, and Tori Karim, wife of Josh of Marietta; a grandson, who was the apple of “Poppy’s” eye, Drew Simmons; three sisters, Dawn Mosteller, wife of Don of York, Linda Stauffer, wife of Morgan of Wrightsville, and Judy Gilbert, wife of Ricky of Columbia; and a brother, Michael Jones of York. Chet is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews, who he loved dearly. A memorial service to honor Chet’s life will be held at LCBC Church, Manheim Campus, 2392 Mount Joy Rd, Manheim, PA on June 6th at 11:00 am. Family and friends will be received at the church before the service from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Interment will be private. Rather than flowers, the family asks that memorial gifts be directed to a legacy fund. Chet was happiest when wearing jeans, a T-shirt, and sneakers. We encourage family and friends to wear their favorite pair of jeans and yes, even their sneakers. He would be so pleased!
