Roy M. Snyder, 91, of Mount Joy passed away peacefully on May 22, 2016. He will be missed by his loving wife, Betty Ebersole Snyder with whom he shared 68 years of marriage. Also surviving is his son, James married to Leslie Stauffer Snyder of Silver Spring, two granddaughters, Shelby (Charles) Weber and Katie (Eric) Van Ness; two great grandchildren, Mason and McKenzie Van Ness. Roy served with the US Army in the European Theater during WWII. Upon returning home from the war, he began a life-long career as an auto mechanic working in Rheems and later opening Snyder's Garage in Mount Joy, a business he operated for over 50 years. Roy loved all things cars, from antique restoration to fixing new cars. He was a charter member of the Antique Auto Club of America, Hershey PA Chapter, and enjoyed car shows. He was a longtime member of the First Church of God of Elizabethtown. Born in Elizabethtown, he was the son of the late Jacob and Martha Myers Snyder. Also surviving are his brothers Ralph (Lucy) Snyder of Mount Joy and Jacob (Jean) Snyder of Florida. Roy's family will receive friends at the Sheetz Funeral Home, Inc., 16 East Main Street, Mount Joy on Thursday, May 26, 2016 from 10 AM to 12 noon. Services and interment will be private.
