Marion Z. Brubaker, 86, formerly of Mount Joy passed away peacefully at a niece's farm in York County, PA, on Monday evening, July 18, 2016. Born in White Oak, PA, Marion was the daughter of the late Elmer and Ada (Zug) Ebersole. She was the wife of the late J. Wilbur Brubaker who passed away on March 9, 2014. Marion was a farmer and wholesaler of gladiolas. She was also employed at the former Ruhl's Flowers, SICO, Kline's Chocolate and served as a Teacher's Aide at Riverview Elementary School. She had served on the Board of Directors for Rainbows End Youth Services. Marion is survived by a brother, Harold Ebersole, (Woodstock, VA) and two sisters, Helen Fansler (York) and Alice Geiman (Harrisonburg, VA). In addition, there are numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Galen and Ralph Ebersole and a sister Vera Blough. Marion was a long standing member of Florin Church of the Brethren, Mount Joy and attended there regularly until she and Wilbur retired from the farm and moved to Brethren Village. Marion loved to cook whether at home or at church and entertained frequently in her home. She kept a diary of those attending her meals, the date and what was served. For several years she coordinated the Wednesday night community meals at Florin as well as coordinating the annual Christmas banquet for COBYS (also at Florin), making the apple sauce, and cookies to be served at that event. She was instrumental in the planning and coordination of the "Mystery Friend" program for college students at the church and would organize a meal to reveal the mystery friend that had been sending cards, goodies and care packages throughout the year. Marion baked hundreds of Christmas cookies to give to family and friends at Christmas time. Marion loved flowers, in addition to growing prize gladiolas which she sold from her garden and at Mount Gretna, she had her own "field of flowers" where you could cut your own. Marion and Wilbur had no children of their own but she was a loving and caring aunt to all her nieces and nephews, always ready and willing to help a family member when the need arose. She was a cheerful giver and also gave generously to her church, and numerous community causes and charities. A memorial service honoring Marion's life will be held at Florin Church of the Brethren, 815 Bruce Avenue, Mount Joy on Friday, July 22, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. There will not be a viewing but family and friends will be received at the church before the service from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Private interment will be at Chiques Hill Cemetery, Manheim.
