John R. Freels, Sr., 90 of Manheim entered Heaven peacefully on Wednesday, August 17, 2016. Born in East Fork Valley, Tennessee, he was the son of the late John Henry Freels and Lillie (Foster) Freels. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Hazel (Bowers) Freels, who he loved deeply. John was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Lemoyne as well as a member of the Moose Lodge, Middletown. He graduated from Oliver Springs High School, Tennessee and Tennessee Technical School with a degree in business. He worked for Interstate Truck Line in Columbia for 43 years. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather often enjoying family time by going camping, fishing, gardening, watching Tennessee Volunteer football games, listening to country music, and sharing his sense of humor. He was always willing to help others with a gentle, kind and caring heart. He was a friend to all who knew him. Surviving are three children, Linda Spotts wife of Edward of Ephrata, Peggy Eyler wife of Myrten of Bowie, MD, and John Freels, Jr. husband of Sherry of Manheim. Also surviving are six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. A funeral service honoring John's life will be held at the Sheetz Funeral Home, Inc., 16 East Main Street, Mount Joy on Monday, August 22, 2016 at 11 AM. Family and friends will be received at the funeral home before the service from 10 AM to 11 AM. Private interment will follow at Goods Mennonite Cemetery, Conoy Twp.
