Herbert B. (Herb) Stump

Herbert B. (Herb) Stump, 95, of Elizabethtown, formerly of York, passed away peacefully at the Masonic Village Healthcare Center on Tuesday, December 14, 2021. Born in York, he was the son of the late Robert F. and Nettie (Broadbeck) Stump. Herb was the husband of Carol A. (McGruk) Stump, with whom he shared 29 happy years. He was previously married to the late Margaret (Baublitz) Stump, who passed away in 1990. He will also be missed by his stepson Jeffrey Scott Sinclair of York. Herb served in the United States Navy during World War II. Herb loved his work and was a supervisor at Voith Hydro in York, retiring after 31 years of service. Herb lived all of his life in York before moving to Masonic village in 2018. He was an active member of the Madison Avenue Church of the Brethren, singing in the choir and serving in various other positions in the church. Before Margert’s passing, Herb and Margaret would compete in various Ballroom Dancing Competitions. After Herb’s retirement, he enjoyed cruising worldwide, especially to Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. In addition to his parents and wife Margaret, Herb was predeceased by his son Herbert B. Stump, Jr., two sisters, and two brothers. As per his wishes, Herb’s remains were donated to the Humanities Gift Program. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Madison Avenue Church of the Brethren, 645 Madison Avenue, York, PA 17404.
