    HAROLD R. BRANDT

Harold R. Brandt, 90, of Elizabethtown, went to be with his Lord and Savior with his family by his side on Thursday, October 13, 2016. He was the husband of the late Jean L. Hoover who died in 1998. A loving and devoted father, he will be missed by his daughters, Carol married to Jerry Mohr of Mount Joy, Joanne married to Bob Steckbeck of Elizabethtown and his son Fred R., married to Susan Lehman Brandt, of Elizabethtown. His seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren will also miss his daily presence. Harold was a graduate of Elizabethtown High School, class of 1944 and later served in the US Army throughout the European Theater. A talented musician, Harold played the saxophone and clarinet as well as other instruments with members of a small jazz/swing band in Officers Clubs while serving his country in Europe. He was the owner and operator of Brandt's Farm Supply in Elizabethtown, a company he established and operated for 33 years until his retirement in 1986. Harold was a longstanding member and served in various capacities at Word of Life Chapel in Bainbridge. He was passionate about supporting missionaries around the world. This passion for missions led him to apply and receive his Ham Radio Amateur license in the 1990's which allowed him to communicate with missionaries and their colleagues around the world. Born in Londonderry Twp., he was the only child of the late Hiram and Esther Gingrich Brandt. A Celebration of Life Service honoring Harold's life will be held at the Word of Life Chapel, 139 Wickersham Road, Bainbridge, of Tuesday, October 25, at 6 PM. Harold's family will receive friends immediately following the service. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of his family in Geyer's Church Cemetery, Middletown PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Word of Life Mission Fund, 139 Wickersham Road, Bainbridge PA 17502 would be deeply appreciated by his family.
