November 12, 1925 - March 18, 2018
G. Robert Flick, 92, formerly of Mount Joy and Wrightsville made his peaceful exit from this world on Sunday, March 18th 2018, surrounded by loving family. A long-time resident of the Masonic Village Health Care Center, his final days were filled with family, love, smiles, tears, stories, milkshakes, Lebanon bologna, and the grace of his devoted caregivers. His heart knew peace. Born in Lancaster, PA on November 12, 1925, "Bob" was the son of the late Charles H. Flick Jr. and Margaret Brinser Flick, and was the youngest brother of the late Margaret "Peggye" Flick and the late Charles E. Flick. Surviving him are his children Steve (Carol) Flick; Susan (Gerald) Flick Ciranni; Donna Flick Smith, wife of the late Harold Smith; Hugh "Corky" Flick and partner Beth Newcomer Fitzpatrick. Bob was preceded in death by his wife Lois M. "Nan" Flick, with whom he celebrated 26 years of marriage. Also surviving him are her children Beverly Baumgardner-Groff and Connie Heindel. He was proud of his work for Columbia United Telephone in the Mount Joy area as "the phone man" - initially a telephone lineman and later, supervisor . A Naval signalman in WWII and the Korean Conflict, Bob served humbly, proudly, and honorably. An accomplished athlete, "Flickie" played league basketball, and was a member of several fast-pitch softball teams including the 1966 Old Colony Inn AA championship team. His true passion was golf. A 'scratch' player for many years, he last "shot his age" at 84 years old. Bob was known and loved as "Pap" to many. Carrying his legacy are grandchildren Brent (Jackie) Smith, Anthony (Brelin) Smith, Kyle Flick, and Megan Flick, along with Jodi (David) Roth, Nikki Groff (Dennis "Bubba") Barnett, Dustin Groff, Donnie (Donna) Heindel, Christy (Jeffrey) Hinderer, Bridget Fitzpatrick, Hannah Fitzpatrick, and Liam Fitzpatrick, as well as twenty-one great- and great-great grandchildren. A funeral service honoring Bob's life will be held at the Sheetz Funeral Home, Inc., 16 East Main Street, Mount Joy on Friday, March 23, 2018 at 2 PM. Family and friends will be received at the funeral home before the service from 1 PM to 2 PM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The First Tee, https://thefirsttee.org/get-involved/ways-to-give/donate/.
