    Edgar "Ed" E. Espenshade

    March 6, 1937 - April 30, 2018

    Edgar E. "Ed" Espenshade, 81, of Rheems, passed away on Monday, April 30, 2018 at the Mennonite Home. Born in Mount Joy, he was the son of the late Claude W. and Anna Mary (Shank) Espenshade. Ed was the husband of Mary Lou (Collins) Espenshade with whom he would have celebrated 63 years of marriage, May 1st.             Ed retired from West Donegal Township in 1994. He previously retired from the Fuller Company in Manheim in 1979. Ed proudly served in the PA Army National Guard for 8 years. He was a member of Open Door Bible Church in Middletown where he served as a Deacon and greeter. Ed was a life time member of the Milton Grove Sportsmen's Association and enjoyed trips to his cabin in Clinton County and hunting.             Surviving in addition to his wife, Mary Lou, are four children, Peggy Heisey, wife of Ken of Milton Grove, Deborah Forney of Rheems, Edgar Espenshade Jr. of Rheems and Wanda Schwanger, wife of Dwayne of Elizabethtown; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; a sister, Claudia Kautz, wife of Lloyd of VA; and a brother, David E. Espenshade of VA.             He was preceded in death by two brothers, Gerald and Robert Espenshade.             A funeral service honoring Ed's life will be held at the Sheetz Funeral Home, Inc. 16 East Main Street, Mount Joy on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at 11 AM. Family and friends will be received at the funeral home before the service from 10 AM to 11 AM. Interment will follow at Good's Mennonite Cemetery, Elizabethtown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 2595 Interstate Drive, Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
