Born in Mount Joy, he was the son of the late Elwood and Evelyn (Kuhn) Gerber. He later moved back to Lancaster to be with his family.  Charles was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Mount Joy.   The Gerber family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to the devoted staff of Hospice and Community Care for their compassionate care and dedicated support.                 Charles is survived by three children, Robin (Sam) Zink of Mount Joy, Brian (Patty) Gerber of Lancaster and Cherie (John) VanLenten of Lancaster; seven grandchildren, Cristy (Steven) Mock of Gordonvale, Australia, Brandon (Andrea) Zell of Mount Joy, Michael (Ashley) Zell of Mount Joy,  Christopher (Jennifer) Gerber of Taylors, SC , Jennifer Gerber of Lancaster and Jonathan VanLenten and Alyssa VanLenten both of Lancaster; ten great grandchildren; and a brother, Christian Gerber of Lancaster.                 He was preceded in death by five siblings, Evelyn Johns, Bette Woods, Robert Gerber, Irvin Gerber and Sandra Garner; son-in-law, Michael Zell; and a granddaughter, Clarissa VanLenten.                 A funeral service honoring Charles's life will be held at Fellowship Baptist Church, 151 Orange Street, Mount Joy on Saturday, January 13, 2017 at 11 AM. Family and friends will be received at the church before the service from 10 AM to 11 AM. Interment will follow at Mount Joy Cemetery.
