Richard J. “Dick” Farmer Sr., 90, of Mount Joy, passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2019 at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy. Born on May 28, 1929 in Florin, PA, he was the son of the late Harry and Edna (Kline) Farmer.
He is survived by his wife, Esther of more than 66 years; A daughter, Jean Fuss (Roy) Mechanicsburg; three sons, Richard Jr. (Deb) Elizabethtown, Harry (Danielle) Marietta and David (Wendy) Mount Joy; Four granddaughters, Jaimie Zeager, Kerrie Coble, Lydia and Anna Farmer; three great grandchildren, Madison Coble, Broden and Logan Zeager; A sister, Dorothy Berrier; A brother in law, Leroy Waltz; and many nieces and nephews.
Dick proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Dick retired from PPL as a first-class lineman after 38 years of service. He enjoyed his cabin in Potter County, hunting, word puzzles and old westerns.
A funeral service honoring Dick’s life will be held at the Sheetz Funeral Home, Inc. 16 East Main Street, Mount Joy on Friday, June 21, 2019 at 11 AM. Family and friends will be received at the funeral home before the service from 10 AM to 11 AM. Interment will follow at Camp Hill Cemetery, Mount Joy.
