March 27, 1926 ~ March 26, 2019 (age 92)

Richard B. “Dick” Drager, 92, of Columbia, passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Marietta, he was the son of the late Walter Sr. and Mary (Bard) Drager. Dick was the loving husband of Mildred “Millie” Siegrist with whom he celebrated 68 years of marriage on January 21st, 2019.
Dick was a graduate of the former East Donegal Township High School class of 1944. Primarily a farmer, he also drove school bus for 41 years for Hempfield School District as well as various other jobs. A loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Dick cherished his family and was a dedicated supporter of his grandchildren’s sporting events. In addition, he closely followed the career of his granddaughter’s husband, Matt Nagy, starting with the AFL and progressing to Matt’s current NFL position of head coach of the Chicago Bears. An all-around avid sports fan, he especially enjoyed this time of year and March Madness. Dick played semi-professional basketball for the Marietta Merchants. He also enjoyed scrapping metal, as he would say, “I’m earning pennies for my kids”.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Millie, are six children: Rick Drager of West Chester; Sandy States, wife of Fred of Columbia; Linda Drager of Columbia; Lori Brunner of Conestoga; Greg Drager, husband of Peg of Lancaster; and Steph Jepson, wife of Doug of Fort Collins, CO; fourteen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Jane Sample of Elizabethtown. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Harold, Herman, Donald, Walter Jr. and Nelson Drager.
A memorial service honoring Dick’s life will be held at LCBC, 2392 Mount Joy Road, Manheim on Monday, April 1, 2019 at 11 AM in the West Wing Auditorium. Family and friends will be received at the church before the service from 9:30 AM to 11 AM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 314 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17603.
