Marie Farmer Carter, 99, of Elizabethtown, passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at Masonic Villages, Elizabethtown. Born in Elizabethtown, she was the daughter of the late Paul A. and Daisy Pearl (Coble) Farmer. Marie was the wife of the late Daniel B. Carter.
In her early years, Marie worked at the Greenberg Garment Company. She was a member of the Hershey Skate Club and a charter member of the Willow Wood Swim Club, where she once swam more than 50 miles in 42 days. She enjoyed horseback riding, reading, and collecting books.
Marie is survived by seven nieces and nephews: Norma (Nentwig) Klugh of Mount Joy; Sonja (Farmer) Roeting, David Farmer and Paul Farmer, all of Elizabethtown; James Farmer of Lititz; Fred Farmer of Kuna, Idaho; and Larry Farmer of Landisville.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Nentwig and two brothers: Fred Farmer and Robert Farmer.
A funeral service honoring Marie’s life will be held at the Sheetz Funeral Home, Inc. 16 East Main Street, Mount Joy on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at 11 AM. Family and friends will be received at the funeral home before the service from 10 AM to 11 AM. Interment will follow at Mount Tunnel Cemetery, Elizabethtown.
