Clyde L. Ruthroff, 97, of Mount Joy, Pennsylvania passed away on April 18, 2018 at Mount Hope Nazarene Retirement Community in Manheim, Pennsylvania. He was pre-deceased by his wife, Winifred Peterson Ruthroff, his parents and his eight siblings.
Clyde was born in Sioux City, Iowa in 1921 and served in the Navy before and during World War II, attaining the rank of Ensign. After graduating from the University of Nebraska with degrees in Electrical Engineering and Mathematics, he worked for Bell Telephone Laboratories in Holmdel, New Jersey. He distinguished himself with many discoveries, inventions and patents. Upon retirement, he and his wife moved to Mount Joy, Pennsylvania, where they loved to vacation.
He is survived by his children Carla Ruthroff Faraher and John Ruthroff and his wife Susan; his grandchildren, Anne Faraher and partner Terance Flanagan, Heather Ruthroff, Michael Faraher and wife Lindsay, and Jennifer Ruthroff Savoie and her husband Steve. Clyde is also survived by his five great grandchildren, Steven Savoie, Christopher Savoie, Michael Savoie, Samantha Savoie and Megan Faraher.
He will always be remembered for his brilliant mind, his amazing sense of humor and his unconditional love.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
