Charles D. Drace, 83, formerly of Mount Joy and Newmanstown, passed away on Monday, July 30, 2018 at his home at Masonic Villages, Elizabethtown. Born in Mapleton Depot, he was the son of the late Charles and Esther (Dell) Drace. Charles was the husband of the late Marlene L. (Zimmerman) who passed October 17, 2003. He was the husband of Mary Ann Beard.
Charles was a teacher at the Dauphin County Technical Schools from 1971 to 1993. He also was employed at Lancaster Level Flo in Research and Development. A Free and Accepted Mason, he was a 50 plus year member of the Robert Burns Lodge No. 464 in Harrisburg. Charles was also a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Mount Joy and enjoyed NASCAR, boating and golfing.
Surviving in addition to his wife Mary Ann Beard, are three children, Pamela Hemperly, wife of Chuck of Middletown, Mitchell Drace, husband of LaRue of Mount Joy and David C. Drace, husband of Lisa of Mount Joy; a brother, H. Eugene Drace, husband of Elaine of MA; two sisters, Patricia Gingrich of Lancaster and Peggy Benedict of Elizabethtown; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Drace.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
