Ronald S. Drotos

Ronald S. “Ron” Drotos, 86, of Mount Joy, passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2025 at Lancaster Nursing and Rehabilitation. Born in Passaic, NJ, he was the son of the late Steve and Mary (Papachic) Drotos. Ron was the husband of Mary (Mineo) Drotos with whom he celebrated 64 years of marriage this past May 7th. Ronald proudly served in the United States Navy from 1957 to 1961. Ron started out working at ADT and later served 25 years as a police officer with the Wood-Ridge NJ Police Department, retiring as a lieutenant in 1992. While on the police force, Ron was a firearms instructor and a Top Marksman in the State of New Jersey. Ron enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson along with his fellow retired police officers as a member of the Blue Knights Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club of PA. Ron was an avid golfer, playing in several leagues in York and Lancaster County and yearly while in Aruba. He also enjoyed bowling and attending car shows with his 1949 Ford, called Mr. Blue. A diehard NY Jets football fan, Ron enjoyed going to the games as a season ticket holder. Surviving in addition to his wife, Mary are three children, Donna M. Andrews, wife of Dan Andrews of Mount Joy, Stephen R. Drotos, husband of Stacey Drotos of NJ, and Scott P. Drotos, husband of Anna Marie Drotos of NJ; eight grandchildren, Dustin Andrews, husband of Rachel, Devin Andrews, husband of Grace, Dylan Andrews, husband of Emily, and Stephen, Eric, Victoria, Isabella, and Anthony Drotos; seven great grandchildren; and a sister, Barbara Leiter of ID. Ron was preceded in death by a sister, Diana Carragher. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Mary Mother of the Church, 625 Union School Rd, Mount Joy, PA 17552 on Thursday, November 6, 2025 at 11 AM. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at the Sheetz Funeral Home, 16 East Main Street, Mount Joy, PA 17552 from 6 PM to 8 PM and again on Thursday before Mass at the church from 10 AM to 11 AM. Interment will be private at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N.
