Merle E. Geesey

Merle E. Geesey, age 84, formerly of Mount Joy, PA, entered the gates of Heaven to meet his Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 25th, 2025 at his home. He was born January 18th, 1941, in Maytown, PA. Merle was a son of the late Merle and Marion (Eisenberger) Geesey, and the husband of Gloria Anne (Peifer) Geesey with whom he celebrated 66 ½ years of marriage. Merle, lovingly known as “Snook” to his siblings and their families, was a devoted husband, son, uncle, brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was also a dedicated employee of Packaging Corporation of America from May of 1961 to May of 2006 when he retired. After retirement from PCA, he was a steadfast employee of Darrenkamps Market in Elizabethtown and Weis Market in Mount Joy until the age of 81. He enjoyed having daily Bible devotions with his wife, watching the Gaither Hour every Saturday night, helping those in need, spending time with family and friends, going out to eat, and he loved anything chocolate, especially chocolate milkshakes! His kindness, humor, and love touched the hearts of everyone he had the privilege of meeting. Merle is survived by his wife, Gloria, and two daughters: Donna (Dwight), and Patti. Four grandchildren: Chad (Angel), Adam, Bathsheba (Isaac), and Peter. Seven great-grandchildren: Kianna (Xavier), Isaiah, Onnika, Parker, Isabel, Gracelynn, and Niko. He is also survived by extended family Shawn (Ariana), and their son Gionni, who all affectionately called him Pap. Also surviving are two sisters: Marty Sholly and Emma Irvin (Jim), and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and brothers- and sisters-in-law. He was preceded in death by an infant son, David, and an infant daughter, Stephanie Mae, and eight siblings: Grace, Jane, Bill, Paul, Ken, Joe, Jim, and Charles. Merle’s family would like to thank Legend of Lancaster, Fox Rehabilitation, UPMC West Shore, and Lifesong Hospice and Palliative Care staff members for all their love and support over the last year of his life. You are all greatly appreciated and loved dearly. There will be a private celebration of life for family at a later date.
