Ronald E. "Ron" Williams

Ronald E. “Ron” Williams, 84, of Mount Joy, passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2024 at Luther Acres. Born in Florin, he was the son of the late John and Thelma (Helm) Williams. Ron was the husband of Nancy (Pickell) Williams with whom he celebrated 59 1⁄2 years of marriage. Also surviving are two daughters, Deborah Dobek, wife of Stanley Jr. of Manassas, VA and Bonnie Mathis of Lancaster; three grandchildren (Kristen, Johanna, and Evander); and a sister, Patricia Musser, wife of John of Elizabethtown. He was preceded in death by five brothers, John, Amer, Bob, Dick, and Ted Williams; and three sisters, Gladys Judd, Doris Wegman, and Peggy Jo Williams. Ron proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. He worked for Donegal Foundry for 9 years, and then he worked at Charles Chips where he met his loving wife, Nancy. Ron then worked for 30+ years at Armstrong Ceiling Plant in Marietta, before finally retiring by working at Manheim Auto Auction for about 5 years. Ron enjoyed time with his family and socializing with friends and anyone he saw walking by. Ron enjoyed camping and being outdoors. Ron and his wife camped for 50 years along with his friends and family, making many fun memories at Granite Hill, Knoebels, Starlight campgrounds, and traveled the United States and Canada. Ron also enjoyed sports. He attended every sporting event (and there were a lot) for his daughters, including their field hockey, basketball, and softball games. He coached softball in Mount Joy (MJAA softball) for his daughters’ teams when they were growing up, making many memories along the way. In addition, Ron was a huge Boston Red Sox fan since 1947. Ron was also a Believer and followed the word of Christ, his Savior. He was a member of Ludwig (Falmouth) Church until he was no longer able to physically attend. A memorial service honoring Ron’s life will be held at the Sheetz Funeral Home, Inc., 16 East Main Street, Mount Joy, PA 17552 on Friday, August 2, 2024 at 11 AM. Family and friends will be received at the funeral home before the service from 10 AM to 11 AM. Interment will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to Donegal Tribe Softball, PO Box 554, Maytown, PA 17550 with Ron’s name on the memo line. Funds will go towards special projects for the league.
