Myra Jane (Bubb) Rutt

Myra Jane (Bubb) Rutt, 73, of Elizabethtown, passed away on Friday, August 9, 2024 from a courageous fight against ovarian cancer at Masonic Village Evergreen Unit. Born July 18, 1951 in Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late John Robert and Martha Jean (Morgan) Bubb. Myra celebrated 51 years of marriage in November 2023 with her husband, J. Leon Rutt, Sr. Myra was a graduate of Jersey Shore High School, class of 1969. She graduated from the licensed practical nursing program of Williamsport Area Community College in 1970 and worked in the Surgical Care Unit at Williamsport Hospital from 1970-1972. Then she worked as an LPN at Hershey Medical Center and Rheems Nursing Home from 1972 to 1975. At this time Myra started bookkeeping for her husband in their business and eventually became treasurer for Rutt’s Machine Inc. in Elizabethtown until her retirement earlier this year. Myra was a member of Community Bible Church, and served on the Sunshine Committee. Myra enjoyed sewing, cross stitch, embroidery, gardening, raising flowers, canning, bowling, camping, boating, traveling the United States and Canada, watching Hallmark movies, Bible studies, hosting Fresh Air children and singing. She sang in her local church as she grew up. Myra also enjoyed spending time with her pets, friends, and most of all her family especially her grandchildren. Surviving in addition to her husband, J. Leon Rutt, Sr. are three children, Sheryl Lynn Long (Michael) of Elizabethtown, Angela Jane Glasmire (Joseph) of Palmyra, and John Leon Rutt, Jr. (Kimberly) of Elizabethtown; four grandchildren, Amanda N. Long, Makayla R. Long, L. Noelle Glasmire, and Heather G. Glasmire; a sister, Ann M. Miller of Brooksville, FL; a brother, Frank Robert Bubb of Spring Hill, FL; and many grand-dogs. She was preceded in death by granddaughters, Chris L. Long (1994) and Emily M. Long (2003) and a brother, John Scott Bubb (1966). A memorial service honoring Myra’s life will be held at Community Bible Church, 331 Anderson Ferry Road, Marietta, PA 17547 on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at 11 AM. Family and friends will be received at the Sheetz Funeral Home, 16 East Main Street, Mount Joy, PA 17552 on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 from 6 PM to 8 PM and again on Wednesday after the service, at the church. Please note the only viewing time is at the funeral home on Tuesday. A graveside service will be held at Kraybill Mennonite Cemetery BEFORE the service on Wednesday at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Myra’s name may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023.
