Roy Bard Sheetz was born in East Petersburg in 1895. He served as a medic and ambulance driver in Europe during World War I. His face-to-face encounter with the war deeply affected his life, and led him to an acute understanding of death and dying. After returning from the war, like his father, he also attended a week seminar in Harrisburg and became a licensed funeral director. On September 14, 1921, he and his wife, Rebecca Siegrist Sheetz, purchased the Mount Joy location; 16 East Main Street in Mount Joy where he operated a funeral home and furniture store. Andrew “Andy” Dieck grew up in Mountville. He is a 2002 graduate of Hempfield High School and a 2005 graduate of Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. Andy finished his college degree at Point Park University in Pittsburgh and currently resides in Mount Joy with his wife, Carolyn and their daughter Charlotte. Andy is a member of the Mount Joy Rotary Club and Mount Joy Sportsmen’s Association. He enjoys playing golf, turkey hunting and collecting watches. Andy has been a licensed funeral director since 2007 and joined Sheetz Funeral Home in 2011.
Karin N. (DePrefontaine) Figueroa was born and raised in Lancaster, PA. She is a graduate of J.P. McCaskey High School, followed by Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in 2009 with an Associate Degree in Specialized Business, and Point Park University in May of 2010 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Funeral Service.
She and her husband, Jose, have been married since the fall of 2011. Karin enjoys reading, drawing, history and the outdoors. Together, they enjoy spending time with their extended family and friends and going camping at the beach or in the Poconos.
Karin joined the Sheetz Funeral Home, Inc. in the fall of 2014.
