Tyndall, Jack

John E. “Jack” Tyndall, 77, of 602 Hearthstone Lane, Mount Joy passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, September 7, 2008. He was married to Ruth V. Nentwig Tyndall for 55 years.
Formerly of 805 Church St., Jack was an agent for Nationwide Insurance for 42 years, retiring in 1997. He also held a realtor’s license and worked for Jones and Zink Real Estate, Elizabethtown for several years. Jack was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Mount Joy and was active with the Mount Joy Rotary Club since 1965. A 1949 graduate of the former Mount Joy High School, he received a degree in Business Administration from Penn State in 1953. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. An avid Penn State fan, Jack’s hobbies included photography and music, especially jazz. He enjoyed socializing, traveling with his wife, Ruthie, and after retirement spent time at their favorite place, Ocean City, MD. He loved animals, especially his pet bulldogs. Known for his big smile and humor, Jack loved to tell and play practical jokes.
Born in Mount Joy, he was the son of the late William LeRoy and Reba May Ream Tyndall.
In addition to his wife, Ruthie, Jack will be deeply missed by his two daughters, Debra, companion of Donald Alleman, and Jill, married to Nick Siemon, both of Mount Joy; and his two brothers, Robert married to Eleanor Tyndall, Dagsboro, DE, and Richard married to Thelma Tyndall, Oakridge, TN. A sister, Patricia Merhab preceded him in death.
A memorial service honoring Jack’s life will be held at the Sheetz Funeral Home, 16 E. Main St., Mount Joy on Saturday, September 13, 2008 at 11 am with Reverend Michael J. Martine officiating. There will be no public viewing, however Jack’s family will receive friends from 10 until 11 am. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Jack’s name may be made to Hospice of Lancaster County, P.O.
