Virginia L. Graham

November 29, 1924 ~ August 31, 2017 (age 92)

                Virginia Leech Graham, 92, of Mount Joy, passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at Masonic Villages, Elizabethtown. Born in Lexington, VA, she was the daughter of the late Howard S. and Ella (Arehart) Leech. Virginia was the wife of the late Leon William “Bill” Graham who passed away on June 22, 2009.

               Virginia moved to Washington in 1942 where she became part of the war effort, working at American University; subsequently she worked for Coppers Company and Riggs National Bank.  After marrying Bill Graham in 1951, she raised her children while being active with rug hooking, volunteer work in the schools and at Sherwood Presbyterian Church. 

                After moving to Mount Joy, Pa, Virginia attended Saint Mark’s United Methodist Church and was active with Meals on Wheels, helping with the Community Thanksgiving dinners, bird watching, gardening, swimming, animals and animal welfare, enjoying outings with the “Travelers” group, collecting antiques, being a stand holder at White Horse Antiques and spending time with her family and friends.

                Virginia is survived by three children, Carol Jameson, wife of Paul of Vienna, VA, Robert Graham, husband of Madeleine Carter of Glen Echo, MD and Patricia Shearer, wife of Mark of Mount Joy. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Nora, Morgan, Tate, Rex, Emily and Colby.

                She was preceded in death by a brother, Howard Leech.

                A funeral service honoring Virginia’s life will be held at Saint Mark’s United Methodist Church, 37 East Main Street, Mount Joy on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 4:00. Family and friends will be received at the church before the service from 3:00-4:00. Immediately following the service, all are invited to attend a reception dinner at the church. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Lancaster County, 2195 Lincoln Highway East, Lancaster, PA 17602, as well as to St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 37 East Main St. Mount Joy, Pa 17552.  To send an online condolence, please visit www.sheetzfuneralhome.com
