It is with great sadness, the family of Matthew John Baltozer, Mount Joy, announces his passing on, into the loving arms of his Savior. He passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at the age of 40 years. He was born July 21, 1977 in Hershey, the son of Joseph and Kathy (Nye) Baltozer.
Matthew had an insatiable love for music since he was a little boy. He lived and breathed music and was constantly expressing his heart through songs. His favorite thing was playing his electric guitar. And most recently, playing for his audience…his rescue cat named Patience.
He had a brilliant mind with technology, priding himself on being able to fix things that many ‘pros’ couldn’t even figure out.
Most importantly, no matter how hard life threw him curveballs, he was a fighter to the end. His faith in Jesus became his steadfast Rock. And because of that, his love and compassion for others became stronger and stronger. Many have come to lean on him over the years as their ‘counselor’ friend, as he was filled with so much wisdom and compassion, and always spurred others to keep pressing on, no matter how hard the journey.
His life was a testimony to many: never judge the appearance of man......for God sees the heart. And Matthew had a gift to see every heart that was hurting, often crying for them in the midnight hours. If there’s one life lesson Matthew would want us all to remember, it would be, “Forgive....so that you can be forgiven.”
He treasured each person in his life and wanted the best for them. Matthew means “gift of God”, and John means “God is gracious”. Matthew wanted his life to be a gift to others, and show them that God is gracious toward us, no matter the struggle.
Matthew is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Kayla (with first grandbaby on the way) and Alyssa, parents Joe and Kathy, siblings Justin (Rebecca), Ashley, Josiah, maternal grandmother Orpha Nye, and large extended family and dear friends.
Matthew is predeceased by his grandparents Harold Nye, and William and Mildred Baltozer, and an infant brother, Derrick.
A Celebration of Matthew’s life will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 47 West Main Street, Mount Joy on Saturday, February 17, 2018, at 5 PM. Matthew’s family will receive friends from 3:30 – 5PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Humane League of Lancaster County, humaneleague.com would be deeply appreciated by his family.
