Charles F. Ludlow

November 28, 1925

            Charles F. "Chuck" Ludlow, 91, entered Heaven on Monday, April 10, 2017 after a brief illness at PinnacleHealth Harrisburg Hospital, PA. Born in Elizabeth, NJ, he was the son of the late Clarence Van Tuyl and Mildred (Jourdan) Ludlow. He lived in Accord, NY, retired to Brevard, NC and was currently residing at Homeland Center in Harrisburg, PA. Charles was the loving husband of Kathryn (Beard) Ludlow with whom he celebrated 63 years of marriage this past June 13th.

            Chuck proudly served in the United States Army 254th Infantry Company G in the European Theatre during WWII. He worked for Channel Master and VAW in Ellenville, NY. Chuck was an active member of the Dutch Reformed Church in Accord, NY, attended Carr’s Hill Baptist Church in Brevard, NC and later East Shore Baptist Church in Harrisburg, PA. His faith journey included studying the Word, leading bible studies and being involved in various christian organizations. In NY he was a volunteer firefighter with the Accord Fire Company and served on the school board of Rondout Valley School District. He then volunteered at the Transylvania Regional Hospital in NC. Chuck was an avid reader, enjoyed writing poetry and spending summers in Branford, CT.

            Surviving in addition to his wife Kathryn are four daughters, Bronwyn "Bonnie" Dawsey (James) of Hendersonville, NC, Jennifer "Jenny" Terbeek of Asheville, NC, Tricia Earhart (Ken) of Mount Joy, PA and Nora Kerschner (John) of Harrisburg, PA, eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren and a sister, Alice L. Lambert of Branford, CT.

            Chuck was preceded in death by a brother, Henry J. "Hank" Ludlow of Brevard, NC. Shortly before Hank's death, the brothers were joyfully reunited in Washington, D.C. through the courtesy of the Blue Ridge Honor Flight organization.

            A private burial will be held in Brevard, NC at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Carr’s Hill Baptist Church, 2719 Greenville Highway, Brevard, NC 28712 or the Blue Ridge Honor Flight, P.O. Box 18057, Asheville, NC 28814.
