Gerald was born and raised in Mount Joy, April 21, 1925 at 16 East Main Street.  He served as president of his graduating class from Mount Joy High School, Class of 1943.  In 1950 he graduated from Eckel's Mortuary School in Philadelphia and received his Funeral Directing license in 1951 after serving a year's internship.  He married Mary Reich from Marietta on September 10, 1949.

He served in the US Marine Corps during WWII as a Corporal in the 1st Division, 3rd Battalion, 7th Regiment, participating in D-Day Activities on Okinawa in the Southern Pacific.

He and Mary have five children, Jessica, Judy, Mary, Jonathan and Christopher and 7 grandchildren.

He was a member and past president of the Lancaster County Funeral Directors Association, life member and past commander of the Mount Joy American Legion, past president of the Mount Joy Lions Club, and a life member of the Mount Joy VFW.  He was a member of the Mount Joy Sportsmen's Association and the Casiphia Masonic Lodge 551, Mount Joy.

He enjoyed traveling, hunting and fishing and has retired to 223 Park Avenue, Mount Joy.
