Bill Martin, a Mount Joy native, graduated in 1973 from Donegal High School, and received an Assoc Degree in Wildlife Technology from Penn State University in 1975. He then worked for J.B. Hostetter and Sons, Inc, Mount Joy for 20 years before making a mid-life career change into funeral service. Bill graduated in 1999 from Northampton Community College, Bethlehem with an associates degree in Applied Sciences and Funeral Service. He became a licensed funeral director in 2000. He is a member of the Lancaster County Funeral Directors Assn., has served on the Board of Directors, and as president in 2003. Bill has been very active with the emergency services in the community since high school. He was an active firefighter with Fire Dept Mount Joy and a paramedic with the former Mount Joy EMS and the Northwest ALSU. He is also very active in Glossbrenner United Methodist Church, Mount Joy singing in the choir and serving on various committees.
Bill enjoys meeting families and helping them with their funeral arrangements, whether it is "at need" or preplanning. He is a firm believer that each family should be cared for like he would want his own family cared for. Arrangements should be affordable, meaningful and appropriate for each person and family. Bill also believes preplanning funeral arrangements helps families immensely, whether it is during good health or only a few days away from a death. Good, sound choices can be made without the rush and stress, which occurs at the time of a death in your family. He is always happy to meet families in the comfort of their homes or the funeral home.
Bill enjoys the outdoors and lives with his two daughters in Mount Joy.
